Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental home:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sunsets and Siestas - Beaufort Santuary! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
