How to book the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing the right Havelock vacation home:
- Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sunsets and Siestas in Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
