Finding the best Havelock vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. Booking in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. NEW Listing - OFFSHORE BLUE - Sound Front Home 4 BR 2 Bath has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
