Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Havelock vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing the perfect Havelock rental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Pinnacle - OCEANFRONT Home. Amazing Views, Pool, Hot Tub, 2 Kitchens,\nDeck has 8 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
