Strategies to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. The Salty Pelican in Atlantic Beach NC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
