Havelock rental property booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Club B303, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
