Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 103 Ebb Tide, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
