Finding the best rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Select dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. WATERFRONT! Tranquility bytheSea, CShoreBeachHome, Across from Beach onthe Sound has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
