Vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your Havelock rental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Second-Floor Condo in Oceanfront Location w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, Water Views has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
