How to find the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer time is high season in Beaufort. To find the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the best Havelock vacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Waterfront Waterway Home in Beaufort on the Neuse River, Family and Pet friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
