Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Havelock area. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Pebble Beach A305, 3BR Condo ~ OCEAN FRONT! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
