Tips and Tricks to get the best Havelock vacation property experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Ocean Point in A Place At The Beach, your oceanfront resort destination! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
