Strategies for getting the perfect rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Woosaah Life - Remodeled 2023-2 King EnSuites,Dog Friendly,Pvt Beach Parking has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
