Getting the best Havelock vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 2-bedroom, Oceanside unit in Emerald Isle w\/ kids bunk room, 3-min walk to beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
