Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront condo with direct beach access and shared pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
