How to book the best vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 2nd row, Pool, game room, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, pet friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
