Rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2nd-row crystal-coast-cabana bliss w\/splendid ocean views—NO FEE for Fido has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
