Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best vacation rental:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 3rd row home with PRIVATE POOL AND TIKI BAR has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Havelock beach you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
