Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Pine Knoll Shores rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 4BR\/4BA Multilevel Condo with Pool & Wifi has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
