How to find the best rental home experience:
When to reserve a Havelock rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the perfectvacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 5 Bedroom, Oceanfront Home (The Amadeus) has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
