Tips to get the optimal Havelock vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Havelock rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Finding the best rental:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. A Place At The Beach III , One-bedroom Unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
