Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. A private, wooded home in Emerald Isle, NC, 5th row from the beach (5 min walk) has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
