Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Start by having your group select trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Emerald Isle Vacation Beach house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
