Strategies to get the perfect Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking the perfect Havelock rental home:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. A Southern Exposure, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
