Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beach Front Condo With Wonderful Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
