Vacation rental home tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. UPDATED KITCHEN - AMAZING VIEWS has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Havelock attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
