Our top Havelock rental property booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightvacation home:
- To start, have your group select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. UPDATED KITCHEN - AMAZING VIEWS has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, email or call the host before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
