How to get the best Havelock rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your Havelock rental home:
- First, have your family decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beach Time has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
