Strategies to get the perfect Havelock vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Havelock rental:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront, 1st-Floor Condo with Deck, Ocean Views, WiFi, W\/D & Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
