Getting the best Pine Knoll Shores rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Book your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book the perfect Havelock rental home:
- Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront, 1st-Floor Condo with Deck, Ocean Views, WiFi, W\/D & Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
