Our top Havelock vacation rental tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Booking your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing the bestvacation home:
- Start by having your group choose the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront, 1st-Floor Condo with Deck, Ocean Views, WiFi, W\/D & Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
