Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best vacation home in Atlantic Beach:
- Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beach Villa with Tropical Pool has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
