Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- To get the largest rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- First, have your group commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Complex, First Floor Southwinds, Ocean & Sound Views, 2 Pools! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
