Tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the bestrental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Tommy's Bahama! in A Place At The Beach Resort on the OCEAN & the BEST pools! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
