Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the best Havelock rental home:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Tommy's Bahama! in A Place At The Beach Resort on the OCEAN & the BEST pools! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
