Tricks and tips to get the perfect Atlantic Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Book your Havelock rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your Havelock rental:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beachside condo with mid-size kitchen & on-site pool - shared W\/D has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
