Tricks and tips for getting the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Biggie's Bungalow - Waterfront House with Dock has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
