How to book the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Birds'Nest -oceanfront condo in Dunescape Villas with beautiful views has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
