Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking a perfectrental:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Blue Water D105; Oceanview condo, Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
