Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking yourrental:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Liquid Sunshine, direct poolside easy beach access has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
