Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your family select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Blue Dolphin, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
