Finding the best rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best vacation rental:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Bogue's Retreat, Oceanview House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
