Tips to get the perfect Emerald Isle rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking the right Havelock rental:
- Start by having your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Cents and Cents-Ability -- Cozy Beach Getaway! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
