Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Havelock rental home:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanside beach home, 2 minute walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
