Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Book your Havelock rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Suits Us Too - 3BR, 2BA - soundside in Emerald Isle! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
