Vacation rental home tips:
Get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Dock Holiday! with Boat Dock & Pet Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
