Strategies to get the very best Havelock vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Dogwood Treehouse in Pine Knoll Shores, NC has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
