Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beachy 2 bedroom, 2 bath, Oceanfront, family friendly condo, close to everything has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
