Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Havelock rental:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Sea La Vie! 3BR 2BA Waterfront Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Have a great stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
