Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Enjoy beautiful historic Beaufort at Beaufort Harbour has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
