Strategies to get the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Book your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Family and Pet Oriented Home That Will Assure You of Wonderful Memories has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More tips for your visit:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
