Strategies for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to book a Havelock rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and picking the perfectvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Family Tides, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
