Booking the best Havelock vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking the best Havelock rental home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Emerald Club, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
Advice for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
