Vacation rental booking tips:
Get the best rental home value:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in Beaufort. Reserve your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Havelock area:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beaufort by the Sea - end unit, spacious townhome with pool, other amenities has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
