Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Havelock rental home & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your family decide on the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT 4BR, 2 BA House at the Point! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
